About the position

The Senior Grant Manager (Pre-Award) at the University of Kansas Medical Center plays a crucial role in supporting faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in grant administration. This position involves overseeing the collection, processing, and analysis of award data, developing efficient workflows for grant proposals, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The Senior Grant Manager also provides supervision and training to entry-level grant managers, collaborates with various departments, and maintains knowledge of grant policies and funding opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, process, and analyze award data for necessary reports.
  • Develop workflow systems to streamline grant proposal processing.
  • Identify processes for greater efficiency in grant submissions.
  • Provide supervision and training to entry-level grant managers.
  • Facilitate training on mySponsoredprojects (MSP) workflow.
  • Collaborate with KUMCRI Sponsored Programs Office for compliance on grant submissions.
  • Interface with faculty and students regarding budgets and funding agency regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of grant policies and procedures.
  • Plan and edit complex grant documents and ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate completion of financial conflict of interest training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Five years of experience in research and grant administration.
  • Knowledge of effective grant research and writing.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and grammatical skills.
  • Experience with eRA Commons and MSP web-applications.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex grant proposal requirements.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Management.
  • Three years of supervisory experience or equivalent.
