About the position

Parsons is seeking a highly skilled Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing instrumentation and controls for both new and existing facilities across a variety of client projects. These projects can range from simple site utility improvements to complex brownfield modernizations of specialized inspection facilities, as well as greenfield chemical production facilities. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other engineers and designers/drafters, either supporting or being supported by them on one or more projects, ensuring that all engineering tasks are performed efficiently and accurately. As a Senior Engineer, you will be tasked with performing complex engineering assignments, which include preparing and checking specifications for control systems and instrumentation, creating location plans, equipment/instrument schedules, datasheets, and other essential documents required for the design, procurement, installation, configuration, and operation of instrumentation and control (I&C) equipment and devices. You will also extract engineering information from CAD drawings, prepare engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs, and complete a variety of assignments such as drawings and specifications suitable for procurement and construction purposes. In addition, you will coordinate activities and deliverables with group leads and other engineers within the I&C discipline on the project, program and configure control system equipment, and frequently interface with other engineering disciplines and departments. Your role will also involve preparing detailed requisitions for equipment and materials, reviewing supplier drawing submittals, performing technical bid analyses, and providing technical guidance to CAD designers/drafters, designers, and lower-level engineers working on the same project. Supporting the commissioning and installation of field equipment will also be part of your responsibilities, along with any other duties that may be appropriate for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Typically 8+ years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of various instrument types, including operating principles and materials of construction.
  • Knowledge of hardware for modern control systems and backend control system components.
  • Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages associated with engineering, including Autodesk and Hexagon.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office/365 suite is expected.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards such as ISA, NFPA/NEC, UFC/UFGS.
  • Knowledge of system design, procurement, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operations/maintenance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of programming and configuration of control systems/automation is desirable.
  • Professional Engineer registration is desirable.
