About the position

As a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer at Worley, you will play a pivotal role in providing instrumentation and controls engineering services on large or mega projects. This position is essential for ensuring that all engineering and design work aligns with quality, cost, and schedule requirements while maintaining safety standards. You will be responsible for supervising and providing technical support within the instrumentation and controls engineering team, ensuring that all design work conforms to the codes and standards used by the client or to agreed industry standards. This role is based onsite near Denver, CO, in a refinery/plant environment, where you will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. Your responsibilities will include performing designing and engineering work as part of the Instrumentation & Control team, interpreting client specifications, and coordinating with other disciplines and clients. You will also be responsible for quality assurance, working within the provisions and guidelines of the Worley Quality Assurance system. Identifying issues and developing appropriate solutions will be a key part of your role, as well as supporting junior personnel within the team. Staying updated with the latest developments and technical innovations in instrumentation and controls engineering is crucial, and you may also act as the instrumentation and controls engineering lead on specific projects. Additionally, you may provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform designing/engineering work/deliverables as part of the Instrumentation & Control team.
  • Ability to interpret client specifications.
  • Coordinate/Communicate with other disciplines and the client.
  • Quality Assurance - Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Worley Quality Assurance system.
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
  • Assist and support junior personnel within the instrumentation & controls engineering team.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in instrumentation & controls engineering.
  • Act as the instrumentation & controls engineering Lead on specific projects if required.
  • Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities if required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Working knowledge of Instrumentation & Control deliverables such as Panel Design, P&ID's, Loop Drawings, Wiring Drawings, Motor Control Schematics, Instrument Location Drawings, Instrument Installation Details, Instrument Specifications, I/O Lists, Bill of Materials, Conduit/Tray/Cable Schedules, Control Narratives, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Material Requisitions, and Construction or Engineering Work Packages.
  • Working knowledge of Instrumentation Calculation/Selection including Flow, Level Measurement, Temperature, Pressure, and Process Analysers.
  • Competent use of instrument calculation/selection specific software.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, SISs, and DCS systems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes related to Instrumentation & Control system deliverables.
  • Ability to work on multiple small and medium projects concurrently.
  • Proficient in Computer-Aided Design software and SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) software.
  • Experience in S3D and relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
