About the position

The Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will be responsible for performing complex engineering tasks within the defense, intelligence, and critical infrastructure sector. This role involves preparing specifications, coordinating with team members, and providing technical guidance to ensure the efficient and accurate execution of engineering projects. The position is based in Kingsport, TN, and offers a contract period of 6 months with potential for extension and a possibility of transitioning to a full-time role.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex engineering tasks efficiently and accurately.
• Prepare and/or check specifications for control systems and instrumentation.
• Create location plans, equipment/instrument schedules, datasheets, and other necessary documents.
• Complete assignments such as drawings and specifications for procurement and construction.
• Prepare, check, and issue specifications, data sheets, and construction documents.
• Coordinate activities and deliverables with group leads and other engineers.
• Provide technical guidance to CAD designers, drafters, and lower-level engineers.
• Interface with other engineering disciplines and departments.
• Program and configure control system equipment.
• Prepare detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
• Review supplier drawing submittals and perform technical bid analyses.
• Support the commissioning and installation of field equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of related work experience.
• Professional Engineer registration is desirable but not required.
• Must be a US Citizen; no security clearance is required.
• Willingness to work at the client's site and from corporate engineering offices is required.
• Willingness to occasionally travel to a second client site (less than 150 miles) is expected.
