About the position

The Director of Compensation and Benefits at Bakkt plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization's approach to employee compensation and benefits. The Director will conduct meticulous analyses of salary data, benefits packages, and incentive programs, ensuring they align with Bakkt's overarching goals and financial parameters. This role is crucial in fostering a positive work environment by overseeing comprehensive employee benefits programs, which include health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Director will work closely with various cross-functional teams, including HR professionals, finance, and legal teams. This collaboration ensures that all compensation and benefits practices comply with legal requirements and regulations. The ultimate goal is to nurture a highly motivated workforce, enhancing employee satisfaction and enthusiasm while safeguarding the organization's financial health and ensuring strict legal compliance. In addition to managing existing programs, the Director will be responsible for conducting market research and analysis to benchmark compensation and benefits practices against industry standards. This ensures that Bakkt remains competitive in the talent market while effectively managing its own programs and policies. The Director will also lead the annual merit, bonus, and equity processes, manage relationships with external vendors, and create training initiatives to enhance employee understanding of the compensation and benefits packages.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, monitor, and evaluate the organization's compensation and benefits programs and policies to ensure competitiveness and alignment with business goals.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to benchmark compensation and benefits practices against industry standards.
  • Design and administer employee benefit programs, including health and wellness plans, retirement savings, and other fringe benefits.
  • Collaborate with HR, finance, and legal teams to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to compensation and benefits.
  • Analyze compensation data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement, providing recommendations to leadership.
  • Lead the annual merit, bonus, and equity processes.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, and brokers to optimize services and costs related to compensation and benefits programs.
  • Create and implement comprehensive training initiatives for employees and managers regarding the organization's compensation and benefits packages.
  • Oversee DEI initiatives to promote diversity within the workforce.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in compensation and benefits management, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of compensation and benefits regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in designing and administering employee benefit programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with 401K discrimination testing and reporting.
