About the position

The Data Governance organization at Bread Financial is dedicated to the proper management of data in accordance with established policies, standards, and procedures. The primary goal of this team is to maximize the value of Bread Financial's data by overseeing decision-making processes and data interactions across the enterprise. This Senior Manager role is crucial in ensuring that data is treated as a valuable asset throughout its lifecycle, which includes proper education and training for all employees involved in data management. In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining and updating all data governance policies, as well as supporting standards that effectively safeguard Bread Financial's data. You will implement data governance and management policies organization-wide, collaborating with various data governance and management roles to clarify responsibilities, policies, and standards. Your role will also involve assessing and identifying areas for improvement, ensuring the creation and delivery of necessary materials across the organization. You will partner with different departments to identify areas of improvement within key business processes and act as the liaison for Data Risk Taxonomy to the second line of defense. Additionally, you will collaborate across functions to establish and execute an approved communication plan that addresses all data management, protection, and governance requirements. As a leader, you will oversee a distributed team located in the United States and India, handling hiring, coaching, and resolving challenges while actively collaborating with your team to ensure all objectives are met.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update all data governance policies and supporting standards to safeguard Bread Financial data.
  • Implement data governance and management policies and standards organization-wide, collaborating with data governance and management roles.
  • Assess and identify areas for improvement in data governance processes and deliver necessary materials across the organization.
  • Partner across the organization to identify areas of improvement within key business processes and act as the liaison for Data Risk Taxonomy.
  • Collaborate to establish and execute an approved communication plan addressing data management, protection, and governance requirements.
  • Oversee a distributed team in the United States and India, handling hiring, coaching, and resolving challenges.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 7+ years of experience in data governance and/or data management
  • 3+ years of direct leadership experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Information Management, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Relevant certifications in data governance
  • Experience leading a data governance organization or a data management capability
  • Experience in creating and delivering a data governance policy framework
  • Audit experience in measuring adherence to policies and standards
  • Proficiency in BI, Data Analysis, SAS, SQL, and Microsoft Office Suite
