About the position

SoundCloud is seeking a Senior Manager of Internal Communications to spearhead the development and execution of its internal communications strategy. This pivotal role is based in New York and reports directly to the SVP, Head of Communications. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with senior leadership and the People team to enhance and drive internal communications across the organization. This position is essential for fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and connectivity, engaging, informing, and inspiring SoundCloud's global community of employees. As a strategic leader and skilled storyteller, the Senior Manager will oversee a comprehensive approach to internal communications across four office locations: New York City, Los Angeles, Berlin, and London. This includes setting the strategic direction in partnership with the executive team and producing content for internal events, such as monthly company-wide All Hands meetings. The role also involves providing counsel to executives and senior leaders to ensure clarity and impact in their communications, managing the internal editorial calendar, and aligning messaging with the company's mission and core values. Additionally, the Senior Manager will work with the Talent Acquisition team to enhance employer branding and position SoundCloud as a top employer, while also maintaining and improving internal communication channels. Collaboration with the DEI team and Diversity Resource Groups will be crucial to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the organization. Staying current with trends in employee engagement will enable the Senior Manager to provide guidance and best practices to inspire innovative internal communications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and develop a comprehensive approach to internal communications across four office locations (NYC, LA, Berlin, and London).
  • Partner with Chief of Staff to produce agenda, content, and coordination of speakers for internal events, including monthly company-wide All Hands.
  • Provide counsel to executives and senior leaders to help shape communication that provides clarity and impact.
  • Oversee SoundCloud's internal editorial calendar to deliver communications related to people and company topics, change communication, and culture.
  • Align internal messaging, employee experience, and employer branding with the company's mission and core behaviors.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to build out employer and internal branding strategy.
  • Maintain and improve internal communication channels and platforms, including intranet and newsletters.
  • Work with People and Workplace Teams to develop communication strategies that drive engagement and enhance employee experience.
  • Collaborate with the DEI team and Diversity Resource Groups to promote DEI initiatives and programming.
  • Stay current with trends around employee engagement to provide guidance and best practices.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of internal communications experience with a brand or at an agency.
  • Excellent written and verbal cross-cultural communicator.
  • Exceptional design and branding acumen.
  • Strong project management skills with a sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Experience leading an internal communications strategy in a global environment.
  • Comfortable working with and providing guidance to senior executives.
  • Experienced at designing presentations, videos, and creative collateral.
  • Able to work independently, exercise good judgment, adapt quickly, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work effectively across multiple functions to develop and drive internal communications narratives.
  • Experienced with content management systems or intranets.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills with an eye for detail.
