About the position

The Sr. Manager of Program Planning at Amazon's Kuiper Government Solutions (KGS) will play a pivotal role in establishing and leading the program planning function within a start-up environment focused on providing broadband connectivity through Low Earth Orbit satellites. This position requires a blend of analytical skills, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure program performance management, risk tracking, and alignment with government contracts. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing integrated schedules, automating program planning processes, and preparing the organization for DCMA audits, all while supporting government customers and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Build the program planning function within KGS.
  • Provide qualitative and quantitative data analysis for program performance management.
  • Ensure the business meets critical deliverables and program schedules.
  • Lead Earned Value Management (EVM) activities and recommend necessary tools.
  • Prepare the organization for DCMA surveillance audits.
  • Standardize the development of KGS program schedules with program managers and finance.
  • Support proposal schedule development in ambiguous environments.
  • Develop and report key financial and operating metrics to measure business performance.
  • Create integrated KGS portfolio schedules that track milestones and dependencies.
  • Build 'what-if' scheduling tools to support program risk assessments.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in analysis and reporting financial results.
  • 8+ years of experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses.
  • 8+ years of experience creating process improvements with automation and analysis.
  • 4+ years of experience hiring, leading, and developing teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of US Government contract program planning experience.
  • Experience with integrated planning and scheduling.
  • Experience with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Oracle Primavera.
  • Experience with executive level project briefings.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and work cross-functionally.

Nice-to-haves

  • 8+ years of experience in continuous improvement projects.
  • 5+ years of experience working with senior staff (e.g., c-suite).
  • MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Experience with risk and opportunity management tracking.
  • Integrated Master planning experience.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with agile program schedules.
  • DCMA surveillance reporting experience.
