About the position
The Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Back End - Cloud Identity at Capital One is responsible for leading a diverse portfolio of technology projects and managing a team of developers. This role focuses on creating solutions that meet regulatory needs while leveraging emerging technologies and cloud computing. The position emphasizes collaboration with product managers and the engineering community to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that enhance customer experiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems.
- Create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company.
- Stay updated on tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and participate in technology communities.
- Mentor other members of the engineering community and occasionally code or evaluate code.
- Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions that drive powerful customer experiences.
- Utilize programming languages such as Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala, along with various AWS tools and services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)
- At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
- At least 4 years of people management experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Master's Degree
- 9+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js
- 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
- 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
- 7+ years of people management experience
- 2+ years of experience in Agile practices.
