About the position

A Senior Mechanical Engineer is needed for one of the world's largest suppliers of aerospace and defense products in the Wilsonville, OR area. This role is critical in analyzing complex cast aluminum parts within a regulated avionics environment. The engineer will be responsible for reviewing and updating designs to address vendor non-conformances, ensuring that all processes and outputs comply with established quality management standards. The position requires a strong focus on technical analysis and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams to achieve project goals. In this role, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will utilize advanced skills in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), interpreting engineering prints according to ASME Y14.5 standards. The engineer will analyze investment castings measurement data, identifying deviations from mechanical models and ensuring that all engineering requirements are met. Operating within the guidelines of a quality management system is essential, as is the ability to coordinate assignments and activities with the Project Engineer. The engineer will also conduct technical reviews of sub-tier supplier hardware, presenting project status and progress during team meetings to ensure alignment and transparency among stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (other STEM degrees considered with applicable experience).
  • 6+ years of engineering design experience required.
  • Advanced proficiency in mechanical drawing and GD&T.
  • Required experience with tightly toleranced investment castings.
  • Required experience working in a quality-controlled environment.
