About the position

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to research, plan, and design mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. This role involves directing and coordinating activities related to the fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of these products and systems. The successful candidate will apply their knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as mechatronic systems, instruments, and pressure vessels. This position requires working on complex issues where analysis of situations or data necessitates an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. The engineer will leverage their extensive experience to resolve complex issues creatively and effectively, using professional-level concepts aligned with company objectives. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for obtaining, researching, and analyzing data related to customer and market needs, as well as required specifications, to assess the feasibility of designs or applications. They will design products or systems, including instruments, controls, machines, and mechanical, thermal, or heat transfer subsystems. Additionally, the engineer may plan and direct other engineers in product/system design and the development of methods and procedures for testing these products or systems. Coordination of fabrication activities is essential to ensure that products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications. The role also involves designing products and systems that interface with machines, hardware, and software, as well as evaluating field installations and recommending design modifications to eliminate malfunctions. The position requires daily availability, including evenings and weekends when necessary to meet goals and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze customer and market needs to determine feasibility of designs or applications.
  • Design mechanical and electromechanical products or systems, including instruments, controls, and thermal subsystems.
  • Plan and direct other engineers in product/system design and testing methods.
  • Coordinate fabrication activities to ensure compliance with engineering design and specifications.
  • Design products and systems to interface with machines, hardware, and software.
  • Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.
  • Exercise judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • More than 6 years of directly related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Double major or minor in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering.
  • Mechanical Systems Engineering experience.
  • Experience with fluid management (pumps and valves) and X,Y,Z motion mechanical systems.
  • Experience in instrumentation design.
  • Experience in a regulated industry.
  • Project Management training or experience.
