About the position

The Senior Microelectronics Design Engineer will be part of the Electronic Warfare Division at Leidos, focusing on the research, design, and development of advanced microelectronics systems. This role involves working within a multi-disciplinary team to create innovative solutions that support U.S. defense initiatives, particularly in the areas of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and FPGA implementation. The engineer will lead design efforts, mentor junior staff, and engage with various stakeholders to ensure the successful integration and testing of microelectronics in defense applications.

Responsibilities

  • Support technical and programmatic assessments of technologies and capabilities related to microelectronics.
  • Lead a microelectronics design team to design, integrate, and test DSP FPGA designs for EW sensor systems.
  • Develop technical solutions and new ideas for marketing and business development initiatives.
  • Conduct experimental tests on SoC evaluation boards and develop specifications for next-generation components.
  • Communicate results through briefings and written materials to team members, customers, and management.
  • Mentor and coach other technical staff within the organization.
  • Serve as Principal Investigator on complex multi-disciplinary programs, including field demonstrations of hardware systems.
  • Provide technical support and field support planning as needed.

Requirements

  • Masters with 15+ years of relevant experience or Doctorate with 13+ years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a TS//SCI level clearance.
  • Demonstrated leadership of complex multi-disciplinary technical teams or projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with DSP fundamentals and FPGA implementation.
  • Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink and microchip EDA tools (Synopsys, Cadence, etc.).
  • Subject matter expertise in microelectronics hardware in at least one area and experience in one additional area.

Nice-to-haves

  • Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in idea creation and program capture (proposals, white papers, etc.).
  • Experience in a fast-paced Research and Development environment.
  • Active TS or TS//SCI clearance.
