About the position

The Senior Mortgage Clerk plays a crucial role in the mortgage servicing department, primarily focusing on the issuance of appraisal and contractor payments related to liquidation appraisal orders. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of mortgage loss mitigation servicing and the Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996. The Senior Mortgage Clerk is responsible for providing Guaranteed Loan Support services and delivering exceptional customer service. The role also involves supporting the Mortgage Origination and Underwriting Auditor while maintaining discretion and confidentiality in all transactions. In this position, the Senior Mortgage Clerk will procure information from insurance companies via telephone, process various tasks in LoanServ, and update insurance information accordingly. The role includes issuing payments to insurance companies, managing correspondence in the Electronic Customer File, and documenting system notes in Sagent. The clerk will also conduct account research, review and process debt settlement packets, and handle charge-offs and debt cancellations. Additionally, the Senior Mortgage Clerk will be responsible for processing loss claims in accordance with SFG-GLP regulations and providing detailed analysis and advice to management and customers. The Senior Mortgage Clerk will engage in daily activities that align with company policies and supervisor instructions to maximize personal output. This includes maintaining a neat and orderly work area, participating in training opportunities, and ensuring compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. The position requires a commitment to the integration of CNI Core Competencies into daily functions, emphasizing integrity, quality of work, and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Procures information from Insurance Companies via Telephone.
  • Processes tasks in LoanServ.
  • Updates insurance information in LoanServ.
  • Issues payments to insurance companies.
  • Works & imports correspondence in the Electronic Customer File.
  • Prepares & documents global system notes in Sagent.
  • Researches accounts and provides resolution.
  • Reviews and processes Debt Settlement packet.
  • Sends debt settlement application.
  • Processes charge off and debt cancellations.
  • Processes Skip trace information.
  • Indexes signed Ream agreements.
  • Responsible for SFH-Guaranteed Loan Program support.
  • Processes loss claims according to SFG-GLP regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Performs account research and provides detailed analysis and advice to management and customers.
  • Provides Lender/Servicer customer service support regarding account via email and phone.
  • Provides loss claim related assistance on projects to support the SFH-GLP and the SFH Claims Branch.
  • Processes all loss claim related sub tasks.
  • Prepares UPS labels for overnight mailings, data entry, image documents, sort/scan incoming mail, answers phone calls, voicemail, status calls and emails.
  • Initiates tasks in the imaging workflow as appropriate from centralized SO SFH-G lender email account for SCB and SSB.
  • Ensures all calls and emails from the centralized SO SFH-G lender email account and phone lines are responded to according to procedure and servicing standards.
  • Processes Chapter 13 Bankruptcy cases.
  • Processes Chapter 7 Bankruptcy cases.
  • Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three (3) years' relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Possesses knowledge of the Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996 transaction processing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with ability to represent company in a positive and competent manner.
  • Solid organization skills relevant to carrying out day-to-day responsibilities with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Extremely detail-oriented with ability to quickly grasp business needs and issues.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment toward the successful achievement of goals.
  • Excellent computer skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Excel, Access, Word and Outlook).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in mortgage servicing or related field.
  • Familiarity with bankruptcy processing and regulations.
  • Knowledge of insurance claims processing.
