About The Position

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing converged network infrastructure and telecommunications systems. This role involves troubleshooting, administering network systems, and providing Tier III support while coordinating with vendors for technical support. The engineer will also analyze network performance, recommend enhancements, and ensure that network systems meet business needs.

Requirements

  • A BS/MS degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of ten years of relevant IT work experience.
  • Knowledge of Cisco SRND/SAFE and industry best practices.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with network, server, and storage virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with VOIP systems like Avaya and Mitel.
  • Advanced knowledge of IOS, NX-OS, EXOS, JUNOS, EIGRP, BGP, GRE, OSPF, MPLS, and QoS.
  • Proficient with MS Visio, MS Windows, and MS Office/O365.
  • Cisco Certifications: CCNP Enterprise required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Juniper Networks and Extreme Networks.
  • Knowledge of Brocade/Ruckus ICX and VeloCloud.
  • Additional certifications like JNCIE, JNCIP, CISSP, or ITIL 4.
  • Agile project management experience like SCRUM.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct short- and long-term planning to meet network requirements.
  • Analyze network activity and problems to prevent systematic errors.
  • Recommend network design changes for improved systems availability and performance.
  • Design, implement, and document network systems.
  • Configure and maintain routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Provide Tier III support for network connectivity issues.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network problems.
  • Ensure planned testing activities for disaster recovery are performed.
  • Assess network performance and provide planning recommendations to management.
  • Evaluate vendor services and recommend changes.
