About the position

The Senior Network/Systems Administrator at GovCIO is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of computer systems, including both hardware and software, in various configurations. This role involves maintaining system integrity, upgrading systems, and implementing changes to improve network/system operations. The position requires an active Secret clearance and is fully remote, allowing for flexibility while managing critical IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain smooth operation of computer systems in networked or stand-alone configurations.
• Maintain system integrity and upgrade systems and/or servers as required.
• Create and document new methods supporting network/system operations and implement changes to procedures.
• Consult with support teams, help desks, customers, and other technical staff to resolve problems.
• Coordinate and perform operation and/or maintenance activities for networks/servers.
• Identify recurring problems and recommend steps to reduce their severity or frequency.
• Plan for the transition of development and/or production environments to new technologies.
• Utilize system software to monitor the performance of system files and manage system data.
• Study system requirements to determine proper server installation methods and procedures.
• Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement network/system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
• Provide regular monitoring and analysis regarding short and long-range planning for in-house systems.
• Prepare or ensure that appropriate documentation exists, including operational instructions.
• Write or modify basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate administration tasks.
• Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations.

Requirements

• High School diploma with 9+ years of systems administration experience or commensurate experience.
• Active Secret Clearance.
