About the position

The Senior Platform Ops Engineer - Caching and MuleSoft at Marriott Vacations Worldwide is responsible for managing and optimizing the infrastructure and application environment. This role requires a strong background in Linux and Windows, coding/scripting abilities, and experience with automation tools. The engineer will lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and ensure the performance and reliability of various technology components, including load balancing, service bus platforms, and caching services.

Responsibilities

  • Support, maintain, and own all aspects of technology components including Load Balancing (F5), Service Bus and Orchestration Platforms (Mulesoft ESB, IBM Integration Bus), and Caching Services (Memcached, Terracotta).
  • Provide guidance on legacy technologies regarding performance metrics such as threads, CPU, and memory.
  • Configure monitoring tools and dashboards, install agents, and perform custom configurations.
  • Engage with business leaders to enhance business monitoring practices.
  • Conduct performance tuning and collaborate with QA teams to ensure new functions have no impact on production.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and work towards resolution, including across multiple environments from development to production.
  • Write and maintain scripts for automation and recovery of systems.
  • Contribute to automation/CICD frameworks and manage GIT repositories.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience.
  • At least seven years in a related computer field with a minimum of five years in web application platforms in an enterprise multi-platform environment.
  • Strong Linux and Windows background with coding/scripting experience in languages such as Perl, bash, PHP, Java, Python, SOAP, REST, and PowerShell.
  • Experience with automation and configuration management tools like Jenkins, Chef, Ansible, and Bamboo.
  • Knowledge of PCI and SOX compliance, SSL practices, and disaster recovery planning.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with distributed architecture and microservices.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Splunk, APM, and AIOps.
  • Understanding of the full layer 7 HTTP stack and network troubleshooting.
