About the position

The Senior Privacy Compliance Analyst at UCSF is responsible for overseeing daily privacy compliance activities to ensure adherence to UCSF and UC system-wide policies, as well as applicable privacy laws and regulations. This role serves as a technical expert and advisor on privacy compliance matters, requiring extensive knowledge of internal policies and external regulations. The analyst will collaborate with the Privacy Manager to develop and maintain the Privacy Compliance Program, manage complex HIPAA projects, and support research privacy compliance initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor day-to-day privacy compliance activities to ensure adherence to UCSF and UC system-wide policies and applicable privacy laws.
  • Serve as a technical expert and advisor on privacy compliance matters.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of internal privacy policies and external privacy laws to advise the UCSF enterprise.
  • Represent the Office of Health Care Privacy (OHCP) in committees and workgroups.
  • Identify risk patterns and trends related to privacy compliance.
  • Conduct privacy risk assessments and handle complex queries.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the framework of the Privacy Compliance Program.
  • Review, revise, and implement UCSF enterprise-wide privacy policies and procedures.
  • Manage complex privacy/compliance HIPAA projects and participate in process improvements.
  • Support interdepartmental frameworks for research privacy compliance, including training and consultations.
  • Investigate privacy incidents and determine reportability under supervision.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of privacy laws and regulations, particularly HIPAA.
  • Experience in privacy compliance and risk assessment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
