About the position

The Senior Product Data Analyst at Western Governors University (WGU) plays a crucial role in managing and analyzing product and business data to support strategic decision-making. This position involves creating reports and presentations that effectively communicate data findings, collaborating with product teams to establish key performance indicators, and developing measurement plans to derive business insights. The analyst will also oversee A/B testing, monitor product performance, and mentor team members, contributing to WGU's mission of expanding access to higher education through innovative online programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage metrics and data to create reports and presentations about product and business data findings.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on key metrics and user data, crafting strategic product recommendations.
  • Perform analysis to assess the quality and meaning of data, stating trends, patterns, and predictions related to user behavior and product usage.
  • Collaborate with product teams to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and build metrics that measure the impact of new products on customers.
  • Develop measurement plans and interactive dashboards that create business insights through product data.
  • Design and oversee A/B tests to measure the impact of new features and improvements.
  • Execute large strategic and high-profile initiatives across product portfolios.
  • Act as a coach/mentor within the team and the Product Org, recognized as a go-to person for data-related inquiries.
  • Monitor product health and performance over their lifecycle and across the learner journey.
  • Gather and analyze learner feedback through surveys or polls using Pendo.
  • Develop and oversee small to medium-scale product analytics projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
  • 6 years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of product analytics experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Databricks, SQL, or other Lakehouse Platforms and querying languages.
  • Experience with ThoughtSpot, Tableau, Power BI, or other visualization tools.
  • Experience with web and mobile analytics tools like Pendo, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Amplitude, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong SQL skills and ability to perform effective querying involving multiple tables and subqueries.
  • Strong problem-solving, quantitative, and analytical abilities.
  • Experience with business and product usage analytics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in additional languages like Python or R.

  • Product Analytics Certification or Analytics Degree.
