About the position

The Senior Program Manager for Early Talent Initiatives & Operations leads a team focused on enhancing career strategy programs aimed at early talent, including internships and job shadows. This role involves collaborating with department leadership to align with departmental goals, optimizing recruitment processes, and providing training to employers to connect effectively with University of Arizona students. The position is based in Tucson or Phoenix, with flexible work arrangements and in-state travel requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize the use of Handshake for employers, students, and university career offices.
  • Identify new Handshake functionalities and evaluate their impact on business processes.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Handshake and provide consultation to employers and university departments.
  • Manage job, internship, and event feeds to uConnect and maintain the Employer area of the SECD website.
  • Maintain and refine processes for on-campus recruitment including interviews and information sessions.
  • Document business processes to ensure consistency and continuity of operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of recruitment trends and co-host training sessions for employer partners.
  • Host employer education events providing tailored support for career fairs.
  • Establish partnerships with alumni and employers to increase opportunities for internships and job shadows.
  • Meet with executives and HR staff to understand talent acquisition needs and present services to connect employers with students.
  • Steward existing employer connections and advise on maximizing ROI on early talent engagement.
  • Build relationships with local organizations and represent the university in business attraction initiatives.
  • Contribute to meeting goals for internship and job shadow attainment.
  • Supervise 2 full-time professional staff members and provide guidance to student staff.
  • Develop relationships with various teams to maximize synergies across the department.
  • Participate in the University of Arizona Career Council and other committees as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning through professional experience required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

  • 2+ years of experience in a talent acquisition role
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • 2+ years of outreach or external relations experience.
