About The Position

The Senior Program Operations Manager at Collins Aerospace is a leadership role focused on overseeing manufacturing strategy and execution for new development programs within the Mission Systems team. This position requires collaboration across various functional teams and direct support to the Program Management Office (PMO). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in manufacturing operations, particularly in the defense industry, and will be responsible for driving decisions related to manufacturing plans and ensuring alignment with customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience, or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.
  • Wide-ranging Program Leadership / Manufacturing Operations experience.
  • Proven experience in Transition to Production.
  • Experience developing complex proposals and Basis of Estimate.
  • Self-directed leader capable of executing Change Management and handling ambiguity.
  • Proven experience in Earned Value Management.
  • Develop Program schedule integration to ensure alignment to Program schedule / contract.
  • Six Sigma Qualified or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Previously held U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
  • Engineering and/or Operations leadership experience.
  • Program Leadership or Material Program Management Certification.
  • Earned Value Management Certification.
  • Working knowledge of SAP / PRISM, Rapid Development Tools.
  • Working knowledge of Pro Pricer or equivalent tools.
  • Experience supporting fact-finding and negotiations with DCMA and Government customers.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite with expert knowledge of Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary Operations focal for all Operations content on new development programs transitioning to Operations.
  • Collaborate with Program Office, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain throughout the product life cycle.
  • Manage Operations cost and schedule performance for new development builds and deliveries.
  • Engage with Engineering and Supply Chain on requirements flow down for Operations and Supply Chain partners.
  • Participate in Program Test and Manufacturing Readiness Reviews to ensure alignment with manufacturing plans.
  • Apply improvement strategies across multiple programs and develop process improvement opportunities.
  • Influence product designs to achieve cost and schedule targets through support to Design to Cost (DTC), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Test (DFT).
  • Lead development teams through Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Manufacturing Feasibility Assessments.
  • Support Supply Chain Management by identifying materials constraints and logistics problem resolution.
  • Direct and coordinate sequencing of work in partnership with Manufacturing to ensure smooth operations.
  • Partner with internal customers to understand needs and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure quality, cost, schedule, and inventory goals are achieved.
