The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall effectiveness of student life on campus. This includes assisting the Dean of Students in all aspects of student life, which encompasses a wide range of responsibilities from student staff supervision to event planning and budget management. The Senior Secretary will play a pivotal role in supervising student staff, which involves hiring, training, processing electronic Personnel Action Forms (ePAFs), and approving timesheets. Additionally, the position requires organizing and collecting data and records, as well as coordinating room reservations and facility setups with student employees. The successful candidate will also be responsible for communicating building repair needs through the work order system, ensuring that the facilities are well-maintained and conducive to student activities. Another critical aspect of this role is managing expenditures for purchases, preparing budget reports, and overseeing accounts payable for the Department of Student Life. The Senior Secretary will assist with event planning and special projects as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to take on various tasks as requested by the Dean of Students. The position requires a collegial approach, working with patience, tact, and discretion with students, staff, faculty, and administrators from diverse backgrounds and temperaments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Dean of Students in all aspects of student life.
  • Provide student staff supervision including hiring, training, processing ePAFs, and approving timesheets.

  • Communicate building repairs through the work order system.

  • Conduct other related activities at the request of the Dean of Students.
