Senior Software Engineer (Backend + DevOps)

About the position

Feedonomics is a leading product feed management platform that partners with agencies, brands, and retailers to optimize and list their products on top ecommerce shopping destinations. The company operates in a fully remote work environment and is looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Backend to join their Engineering team. This role emphasizes collaboration within a cross-functional team to deliver and scale core infrastructure components and services for a high-performance, data-intensive SaaS platform, with a focus on DevOps specialization.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on the design, architecture and development of scalable and highly available applications and services.
• Solve complex infrastructure-related problems with code, developing and providing post-release support for scalable applications.
• Identify and implement enhancements to DevOps practices and tooling, leveraging automation to enhance robustness of the CI/CD pipeline.
• Drive technology design and articulate architecture solution options to the product owners and Engineering leadership.
• Conduct post-mortems to analyze and prevent repeat failures.
• Be a champion for Continuous Improvement in end-to-end infrastructure and systems.
• Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies and processes that solve concrete business problems.
• Coordinate with Infrastructure and DevOps engineers across other product teams to keep up with industry trends and drive best practices throughout the Engineering department.

Requirements

• 6+ years experience in Backend Software, DevOps, and/or SRE positions
• 4+ years experience with PHP (Strongly preferred), GoLang, Python, or similar programming language
• 3+ years working in Linux-based environments
• 2+ years in any CI/CD platform (required, Jenkins a bonus)
• 2+ years Docker or similar containerization technology
• 2+ years experience with MySQL or a similar technology
• Cloud Platform familiarity is a bonus (GCP specifically)
• Experience with Full-stack observability tools like New Relic is strongly preferred
• Understanding of database schema design, caching and scalability
• Understanding of basic networking principles and various communication protocols (TCP, RPC, etc)
• Strong understanding of Distributed Systems and Systems Engineering concepts
• Experience in Caching technologies is a plus (e.g. Redis or memcached)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• BS or higher degree in Computer Science or related technical field

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Full-stack observability tools like New Relic
• Cloud Platform familiarity (GCP specifically)
• Experience in Caching technologies (e.g. Redis or memcached)
