Senior Software Engineer - Java

About the position

At Squarespace, our backend engineers work on Product Engineering teams, which are dedicated to creating the most seamless, integrated products possible. This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week. You will report to the Product Engineering Team Lead. We are hiring for the following product team(s): Website Foundations: This team is responsible for maintaining and evolving the core technology that powers the Squarespace CMS on the backend. High performance, reliable APIs and efficient database access, caching customer requests and splitting apart a monolithic codebase are all within this team's purview. This team owns and maintains the crown jewel of Squarespace, our website builder.

Responsibilities

• Practice disciplined software engineering, writing server-side code, create high-volume production applications, and developing prototypes quickly.
• Lead the development of new features and build backend services with Java.
• Collaborate with other engineers and designers to provide intuitive customer-focused experiences.

Requirements

• 7+ years of development experience in Java, Python, Go or another Object-oriented language.
• Experience developing large-scale software.
• A solid foundation in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design practices.
• A degree in Computer Science or related or equivalent industry experience.
