Senior Software Engineer, Last Mile Delivery Automation

About the position

We are seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to help build the future of autonomous delivery at Amazon. In this role, you will contribute to the technical development of our autonomous vehicle program, implementing solutions that will transform last-mile delivery across our global network. You will play an important role in developing technology that will transform the future of delivery, working on challenging problems at unprecedented scale. Your work will contribute to the development of autonomous systems that will operate across diverse environments, delivering millions of packages daily while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Implement and develop autonomous vehicle systems components, including perception, planning, controls, and vehicle integration
• Contribute to technical decisions across teams, balancing innovation with practical implementation
• Develop integration solutions for autonomous driving software with purpose-built delivery vehicles
• Implement and maintain standards for safety-critical autonomous systems
• Evaluate technology options and provide input on build vs. buy decisions for key components
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a strong engineering culture
• Work with external partners, including OEMs, sensor providers, and technology companies
• Support development of autonomous vehicle systems while adhering to industry standards and regulatory frameworks

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
