About the position

The Senior SQL Developer position at Robert Half offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity within the automotive industry. The role focuses on efficient application development and production support for multiple large projects, with an emphasis on troubleshooting and resolving production issues. The position allows for a hybrid work environment, requiring less than 60% of work to be performed onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Execute application development and provide production support for multiple large projects.
  • Research and resolve production issues, focusing on troubleshooting Mid-Tier MS SQLServer online and batch issues.
  • Analyze and enhance the daily and monthly batch process to improve performance and shorten the critical path window.
  • Conduct impact analysis across multiple platforms and applications.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for estimates, design, and development.
  • On-call for production support during off-office hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Code, test, and debug new software or make enhancements to existing software.
  • Develop technical documentation to ensure efficient planning and execution.
  • Promptly resolve issues that arise with existing production applications to ensure the efficient and proper functioning of application components.
  • Collaborate with technical staff to learn and understand software problems.
  • Generate complex and periodic reports and/or data through database management, data administration, and data extraction techniques.
  • Provide general system users and management with system analysis and feedback.
  • Influence system design by identifying and recommending design and requirements needs for software enhancements.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced staff.
  • Maximize the efficiency of various software systems by implementing, monitoring, testing, and auditing new software programs.
  • Analyze and resolve computer-related problems by coordinating with in-house personnel to diagnose and fix operational difficulties as well as consulting, advising, and training on specialized features and functions.
  • Adhere to established configuration/change control processes.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in SQL and T-SQL (Transact-SQL) is mandatory
  • Demonstrable experience in customer service and documentation
  • Proven ability in training and implementing procedures
  • Knowledge of payment processing and research methodologies
  • Experience in Human Resources (HR) Administration
  • Ability to design and deliver presentations
  • Familiarity with finance, auditing, and production processes
  • Consulting and troubleshooting skills are crucial
  • Knowledge of collection processes and implementation methods
  • Engineering background in the automotive industry is preferable
  • Willingness to travel as per business requirements
  • Understanding of business practices and effective communication skills
  • Experience with monitoring tools and execution of time management strategies
  • Ability to execute tasks efficiently and effectively.
