About the position

As a Senior Staff Backend Engineer in the Global Operations Tech (GOT) organization at Coupang, you will play a crucial role in innovating logistics and enhancing customer experience through advanced algorithms and machine learning techniques. This position focuses on developing systems that ensure ultra-fast deliveries, particularly during peak times, and requires collaboration with various teams to address key business needs and improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop algorithms, simulations, and systems at scale to enhance warehouse, fulfillment centers, supply chain, and transportation systems.
• Own and scale production-grade systems in Data Science, ML Ops, and ML system design.
• Collaborate closely with Operations and Product teams to understand business needs and formulate rigorous mathematical problems.
• Design features and build large-scale models and systems to improve network flow efficiency for inbound and outbound traffic.
• Effectively lead projects across teams and mentor team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as computer science, statistics, or engineering.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in building end-to-end systems and in ML Ops, including exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, model training, and deployment.
• Strong coding skills in Python or Java, with experience in data analysis using SQL, Numpy, and Pandas.
• Proficient in tools like Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Spark, Hive, Cassandra, Redis, Kafka, TensorFlow, Pytorch, and Airflow.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of addressing both technical and business audiences.

Nice-to-haves

• 10+ years of experience in building and owning production-grade data systems, from ETL jobs to feature stores.
