About the position

The Senior Strategic Communications and Engagement Specialist at Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) plays a pivotal role in enhancing safety communications within the Force Safety and Occupational Safety office. This position is responsible for designing and executing comprehensive safety communications campaigns that are not only internal to the Force Safety and Occupational Health (FSOH) but also in collaboration with various Services and other Department of Defense (DoD) components. The specialist will conduct thorough research on specific focus areas to inform communication strategies and will draft essential public affairs guidance, communications plans, and briefing materials for senior leaders. In this role, the specialist will coordinate with the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Office of Public Affairs and Legislative Affairs to support the implementation of communications plans and respond to specific information requests. The responsibilities include drafting talking points, press releases, and other related products to ensure effective communication of safety and occupational health initiatives. The specialist will also identify target audiences and develop tailored messages to engage them effectively. Additionally, the specialist will plan and execute strategic safety engagements for the FSOH Director and the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness, which involves coordinating and preparing for local engagements in Washington, DC, and other locations across the Continental US. This includes providing protocol and executive support for the planning and execution of these strategic engagements, developing detailed itineraries for executive travel, and drafting content for various safety engagements. The role requires monitoring project progress, supporting events to completion, and identifying contingency plans as necessary. The specialist will also be involved in planning outreach events such as conferences, meetings, and award ceremonies, ensuring that all aspects of these events are executed flawlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute safety communications campaigns for FSOH and other DoD components.
  • Conduct research on specific focus areas related to safety communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or a related field.
  • 6-8 years of experience in strategic communications planning and senior leader engagements.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances quickly.
  • Experience in project management and demonstrated writing and briefing skills.
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with multi-disciplinary professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
