About the position

Sigmatech is seeking a Senior Technical Writer and Provisioner to join our team in supporting our various Army Customers in Huntsville, AL. As a Senior Technical Writer and Provisioner, you will play a vital role in developing, writing, and editing technical manuals and documentation for the critical Army Aviation systems we support. This position requires a strong understanding of technical writing principles and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively. In this role, you will create and maintain a variety of technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, release notes, API documentation, and online help systems. You will collaborate closely with subject matter experts, engineers, and product managers to gather information and understand technical concepts necessary for producing accurate documentation. Your responsibilities will also include researching, organizing, and interpreting technical information to ensure that all documentation is concise and meets the needs of the target audience. You will be responsible for integrating relevant information into well-written physical descriptions, controls, and indicators, as well as removal and replacement procedures, often accompanied by amplifying graphics. Additionally, you will select appropriate drawings, sketches, diagrams, charts, and photographs of equipment to illustrate the material effectively. Maintaining documentation templates, style guides, and best practices will be crucial to ensure consistency and quality across all publications. Quality assurance checks on documentation will be part of your duties to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to industry standards. Staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in technical writing is essential. You may also perform cross-functional analysis and lead special projects as requested, as well as develop, revise, and maintain data for publications, including provisioning, RPSTL, and other equipment maintenance programs. Evaluating Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and publications change requests for their impact on maintenance concepts and philosophies will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, release notes, API documentation, and online help systems.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in technical writing.
  • Perform cross-functional analysis and lead special projects as requested.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain data for publications, including provisioning, RPSTL, and other equipment maintenance programs.
  • Evaluate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and publications change requests for impact on maintenance concepts/philosophies.
  • Review, evaluate, accept and/or reject provisioning data and maintenance allocations codes, providing guidance during pre-provisioning and provisioning reconciliation conferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in writing and/or a technical field from an accredited college or university. Four (4) years of experience in engineering, science, or related field may be considered.
  • Active SECRET security clearance.
  • Ability to comply with schedules and unique Army program procedures/requirements.
  • Capacity to perform reviews, updates, and additions of the provisioning file both internal and with the Government.
  • Knowledge of and interaction between Repair Parts and Special Tools List (RPSTL) in the development of associated documentation.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office Products (PowerPoint/Word/Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Five years of technical writing experience.
  • Experience working with Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) and eXtensible Markup Language (XML) using authoring software.
  • Experience with modifications or maintenance, including performing maintenance or installations on a variety of military equipment including special equipment and ground vehicles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Configuration Management (CM).
