About the position

The Senior Technical Writer for Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Google is responsible for creating clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation for both internal and external audiences. This role involves collaborating with product managers and engineers to gather information, writing various types of documentation, and mentoring junior writers. The position plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between technical teams and users, ensuring that complex information is communicated effectively.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AI product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure accuracy of documentation.
• Write technical documentation for security analysts including new features, how-to guides, Release Notes, and reference documents.
• Rewrite and reorganize existing documentation to improve the customer experience.
• Edit, clarify, and proofread documents written by others on the team to match the Google style guidelines.
• Stay informed about the latest developments in AI and adapt content strategy accordingly.
• Mentor other writers on the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience creating content for technical audiences (e.g., developer documentation, Computer Science course material, or IT administration playbooks).
• Experience writing in HTML or Markdown.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience documenting, developing, or using Application programming interfaces (API) in REST, Python, or other languages.
• Experience reading, writing and documenting source code written in Python or JavaScript.
• Experience working in Cloud Console and cloud Command-line Interface (CLI).
• Experience with Vertex Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI Studio.
• Experience writing and engineering prompts with an understanding of ReAct, CoT, ToT and search disambiguation.
