WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Technical Writer for our Washington DC office. This role is integral to our Transit and Rail Team, where you will be involved in projects that aim to meet our client's objectives and solve their challenges. As a client-facing role, the primary goal is to establish a formal quality management program and team for a transportation client. This initiative is designed to ensure improved infrastructure lifecycle management across capital and maintenance programs by establishing clear quality criteria, procedures, document control, training, audits, and compliance verification. The quality criteria will be established using appropriate governing standards such as ISO 9000, FTA, and WMATA QMSP standards. These activities are expected to enhance safety and reliability, minimize rework and associated contract change orders, and implement process improvements over time. Ultimately, this will lead to better stewardship of infrastructure lifecycle management practices across various departments. In this position, you will examine the organization's business processes and offer solutions that create efficiencies, leading to measurable, long-lasting adjustments and quantifiable business results. You will work closely with the Documentation Control team to perform business process consulting that aligns with the department's mission and support elements. Your role will involve analyzing and identifying key processes for successful operations within the organization and the key systems used. You will need to understand the key success factors of customer business support processes and integrate them with respect to unit requirements, operational requirements, products, services, and processes. As part of a team, you will design and recommend new or revised internal business processes, utilizing existing solutions/systems or consulting on technology tools needed to implement the changes. Partnering with subject matter experts, you will identify and define business process improvements and provide methods to achieve these improvements. Your responsibilities will also include providing an analysis of documented actions using commercial best practices in software, hardware, and lean process improvements, as well as documenting Courses of Action (COAs) including flowcharts, data models, organization requirements tables, and risk assessment methodologies. You will employ lean practices, develop process maps, and document recommended lean practices as a result of your analysis and sustainment recommendations. Regular monitoring of the implementation of solutions to achieve objectives and expected benefits will also be part of your duties. Throughout this process, you will exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
