About the position

As a Senior Test Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in automating tests across a wide range of game systems for a multiplatform AAA title. You’ll be responsible for creating unit and black-box tests, collecting test data and metrics, and displaying the current state of the game. With a focus on software quality, you will extend and instrument game systems in-engine to ensure they meet coverage, correctness, performance, and efficiency standards. You’ll collaborate with both internal teams and external QA partners to facilitate smooth build distribution and testing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and automate unit and black-box tests to ensure robust and scalable game systems for a AAA title
  • Create and manage test artifacts, metrics, and telemetry to monitor the health and performance of the game
  • Extend and instrument game systems in-engine to ensure full coverage and ensure the correctness of features
  • Collaborate with both internal teams and external QA partners to utilize the test results to have efficient manual investigation of build quality
  • Drive the creation of efficient, scalable automation infrastructure while maintaining collaboration across disciplines to improve quality

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in C# / ASP.NET Core, and C / C++ programming, with a solid understanding of object-oriented design principles
  • Experience with managing and scaling automation computing resources for large-scale testing efforts
  • Deep understanding of testing frameworks and creating functional automation systems
  • Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex scenarios, providing meaningful insights and notifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in scripting languages (e.g., Python) for functionality both within and outside the game engine
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4/5 and working knowledge of game engine internals
  • Experience working on shipped AAA console or PC titles, with knowledge of game console development (PS5, Xbox Series X, etc.)
  • Experience testing and coordinating multiplayer testing environments
  • Familiarity with common continuous integration (CI) frameworks such as Jenkins, TravisCI, or similar
