The Senior Thermal Engineer at ZT Systems is a pivotal role focused on the development of key thermal components and systems from the initial concept phase through to the engineering release of new products. This position emphasizes the execution of thermal tests on server systems utilizing advanced data acquisition equipment, thermal stress test software, and external power control equipment. The engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting thermal and airflow issues in both new and existing product lines, leveraging empirical data and commercial Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to inform their analyses. In addition to testing and troubleshooting, the Senior Thermal Engineer will actively engage in the design and development of thermal components using 3D CAD software and advanced engineering analysis techniques. This role also includes providing regular quality assurance and on-site support to the manufacturing engineering group at ZT Systems, as well as offering technical support to customers. The engineer will collaborate closely with the engineering team to optimize the thermal performance of servers, ensuring that airflow speed, volume, and flow paths meet both customer and component requirements. The position requires full-cycle program and project management of key thermal components, from engineering design to new product release, necessitating collaboration with both internal and external teams. A commitment to continuous improvement is essential to maintain the highest quality standards. The Senior Thermal Engineer will also interface with the firmware team to implement fan speed control algorithms and support custom engineering projects that require hands-on abilities to interconnect complex server systems. Additionally, the engineer will produce thermal reports based on experimental data and testing/modeling experiences, manage the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process, and provide validation for design modifications. The role demands the ability to analyze and solve technical problems in a fast-paced environment and produce comprehensive engineering documents, including design drawings and installation manuals. Furthermore, the engineer will support the procurement team in identifying and managing heat sink and air mover vendors.
