About the position
The Server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean-up and resetting of the dining room following meal service. Responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining a good working knowledge of all dining room and kitchen responsibilities and procedures, understanding basic kitchen equipment operation, and maintaining a clean work area in the kitchen, serving area, and dining room. The Server assists residents when placing orders from the menu, provides beverage service, refills condiment bowls, and reports any broken equipment or tableware to the supervisor. The role requires understanding sit-down service and proper serving techniques, as well as basic food preparation knowledge. The Server must also be attentive to the special needs of residents and follow confidentiality policies regarding resident information.
Responsibilities
- Courteously serve resident and guest meals
- Clean-up and reset dining room after meal service
- Maintain knowledge of dining room and kitchen responsibilities
- Understand basic kitchen equipment operation
- Maintain a clean work area in the kitchen and dining room
- Assist residents with menu orders
- Provide beverage service
- Refill condiment bowls before and after meals
- Report broken equipment or tableware to supervisor
- Understand proper serving techniques
- Assist with tray service
- Attend required in-services and staff meetings
- Complete all other assigned duties
- Interact politely with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Clean designated uniform during working hours
- Ability to read and follow simple instructions
- Ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks
- Ability to learn quickly and apply learned principles
- Effective communication skills and ability to work under close supervision
- Ability to bend, reach, grasp, push, and pull objects
- Ability to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three hours
- Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and carry heavy objects for 20 feet
- Organized and willing to work well with team members
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
