About The Position

The shift supervisor is accountable for safety, quality, productivity, cost performance, and employee relations in a high-performance work team environment for the assigned shift. This role involves monitoring production performance and implementing processes, procedures, and methods to improve results in all key functional areas, while ensuring compliance with best manufacturing practices and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Manufacturing or Technical background required.
  • Minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience and at least 2 years of experience managing a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of all employees and lead a comprehensive safety program to prevent injuries.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (EPA, SOHA, etc.).
  • Responsible for the EI (energy isolation) program and champion the EI safety team.
  • Hire, train, direct, and mentor staff on all three shifts.
  • Develop subordinates through education, training, and teamwork.
  • Assist in preparation of annual plant operating budget and meet or exceed plant productivity, cost, or other performance metric expectations as outlined by production manager.
  • Identify, propose, and implement capital projects to improve operational performance as needed.
  • Coordinate maintenance scheduling to meet production demands, manage overtime, and reduce costs.
  • Ensure employees complete required safety and quality checks and audits.
  • Maintain and periodically review the preventive maintenance program for improvements and/or upgrades.
  • Work with Maintenance Manager to coordinate plant equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Support machine installation or removal as needed.
  • Build and maintain productive employee relationships, driving employee satisfaction.
  • Provide coaching, counseling, or discipline as needed and recommend disciplinary action to production manager.
