In this role as the Shipping Coordinator, you will be an essential Team Lead to ensure efficient operations through careful leadership of a passionate group of Material Handlers expediting shipment priorities. You will also ensure proper shipping activities to maximize customer satisfaction while reviewing preparation of materials, supplies, and equipment for shipment according to specifications and the transportation method used. Your responsibilities will include assembling orders, counting and weighing items, and directing movement to designated floor locations. You will record time, date, and method of shipments, make out bills of lading, and compare identifying information on outgoing shipments against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Additionally, you will be responsible for planning the transfer of products to the shipping dock, loading cars or trucks, and specifying methods of crating, boxing, and/or skidding. You will work closely with the Planner or Customer Service Associate on any sales order issues and ensure that all system transactions are completed prior to releasing shipments. Familiarity with JACS shipping, SAP, Ship Request forms, courier sites, and AES filing is essential, as well as knowledge of documentation related to international shipments. Adhering to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and complying with all procedures within the company security policy is crucial. You may also perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Make out bills of lading, following standard procedures.
  • Compare identifying information on outgoing shipments against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Post weight and shipping charges and maintain shipping record files.
  • Plan transfer of products to shipping dock, loading cars, or trucks.
  • Specify method of crating, boxing, and/or skidding.
  • Work with Planner or CSA on any sales order issues.
  • Ensure that all system transactions are completed prior to releasing shipment.
  • Familiarity with JACS shipping, SAP, Ship Request forms, courier sites, and AES filing.
  • Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
  • Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • Some College Education preferred.
  • At least 1 year or more of demonstrated Shipping Coordinator experience in any of these areas (Receiving, Shipping, Warehouse) ideally working as a Team Lead.
  • Hands on SAP knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer including using a Windows based operating system and related software.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate quantity of parts to be prepped and ready for use at any time.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Capable of physically lifting, carrying, and stacking 30-pound boxes, as well as standing and walking for several hours during the loading and unloading of pallets and trucks.
