About the position

The Simulator Technician III maintains the flight simulator and support engineering staff with software and hardware updates to ensure the training devices are appropriately configured and meet Alaska Airlines (AS) training requirements. Responsibilities

  • Maintains the flight simulator and support engineering staff with software and hardware updates to ensure the training devices are appropriately configured and meet Alaska Airlines (AS) training requirements.
  • Leverages understanding of aircraft procedures and systems to maintain simulators.
  • Implements the priorities established by the Director and Engineers to clear the aircrew discrepancies.
  • Reports all spares issues on the training devices to the Director and/or engineers.
  • Performs routine maintenance per the preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Performs pre-flight tests of the training devices prior to the start of each training day.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs flight simulator systems.
  • Assists in the development of simulator maintenance processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years of industry technician experience.
  • General understanding of electronics in the following Simulator areas: visual display systems, mainframe hosts with multiple nodes, visual image generators, complex linear circuits and digital circuits.
  • Understanding of 6-degree motion systems, simulated aircraft control systems, and hydraulic power control units.
  • Understanding of aircraft systems and flight concepts, including aircraft avionics and aircraft handling.
  • Ability to differentiate between a software and hardware fault.
  • Ability to assist in troubleshooting complex aircraft system issues in multiple aircraft types, including aircraft avionics, aircraft handling, and primary and secondary systems.
  • Ability to use software utilities to support the training devices for general maintenance, including ground station editors, auto testing utilities, program editors, program compilers, and general background utilities.
  • General understanding of visual database management.
  • Ability to read and understand simulator / aircraft data from multiple vendors, including wiring diagrams, system diagrams, cable layouts, mechanical layouts, parts lists, and flight test data.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication (e.g., verbal, written, and listening) skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work rotating shift work based on a 24/7 operation in a team environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
