Site Reliability Engineer

About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with over 8 years of experience, particularly in Production support and Site Reliability Engineering. The ideal candidate will be a core member of our SRE support team, utilizing the latest technology tools to maintain the resiliency, performance, and availability of our Digital Sales & Marketing platforms. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying problems and areas for improvement, as well as the ability to collaborate with various engineering teams to resolve production outages and enhance platform health.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain the health of the platform with a focus on resiliency and performance.
• Utilize automated testing and process automation to improve operational efficiency.
• Create dashboards using APM tools and set up alerts for monitoring application performance.
• Collaborate with engineering teams across security, networking, and infrastructure to address challenges impacting platform health.
• Represent platform engineering during production outages and work towards permanent resolutions.
• Plan and execute governance programs to ensure compliance with operational controls.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to non-compliance and operational errors.
• Influence SRE practices to foster a strong DevOps culture within the organization.
• Work on shift duty in a 12/7 support organization to maintain SLAs and SLOs.

Requirements

• 8+ years of Software Engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
• 5+ years of experience in Production support/Site Reliability Engineering.
• Hands-on expertise with automated testing, process automation, and building dashboards using APM tools.
• Experience with distributed systems, algorithms, relational databases, and NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of caching tools (Redis) and messaging tools (MQ, Kafka).
• Working knowledge of APM tools such as Splunk, GCL, ELK, and Grafana.
• Strong experience in supporting Web/API platforms built using Java/JavaScript stack (Spring/Spring Boot).
• Proficiency in dealing with legacy infrastructure and cloud infrastructure (on-prem and third-party) such as PCF or Azure.
• Ability to work on-site in Charlotte, NC.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with Agile or other rapid application development practices.
• Experience with different API styles such as SOAP, REST, and Microservices.
• Working knowledge of Postman.
