Nexteer Automotive Corporation is seeking skilled candidates for the Industrial Machine Repair position at its Saginaw, Michigan Operations. This role is critical in ensuring the functionality and reliability of industrial machinery, which is essential for maintaining production efficiency. The ideal candidate will be safety-oriented, demonstrating a commitment to workplace safety as the overriding priority. The position requires self-starting, team-oriented individuals who possess strong technical and interpersonal skills. Candidates should be willing to coach and mentor fellow employees, fostering a collaborative work environment. To qualify for this position, applicants must hold a Journeyman's card or have completed a Department of Labor-certified program. Alternatively, candidates with a minimum of 6 years of experience as an Industrial Machine Repairer will also be considered. The company is open to hiring a Journeyperson in Training (JIT), with compensation determined by the candidate's certificates, credentials, and performance during the interview process. A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required, and candidates may be expected to participate in additional classroom training as needed. The role involves diagnosing and troubleshooting problems on various industrial equipment. Candidates must be able to read and understand technical prints related to hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including those involving chemical, oil, and water-based fluids. Responsibilities also include performing piping, threading, and steam fitting work, as well as conducting fixture and mechanical repairs on industrial equipment. The ability to operate tool room equipment such as lathes, mills, saws, and drill presses is essential, along with proficiency in using an oxygen/acetylene torch and operating fork trucks. Additional tasks include installing ballscrews into machines, indicating spindles, chucks, shafts, and linear bearings, and having knowledge of bearing installation. Experience rigging with chains, slings, and chokers from mobile and overhead cranes is also required, along with familiarity working on assembly lines, machining cells, stamping presses, plastic injection, grinding machines, and CNC machines.
