About The Position

The Slicing Process Engineer at Corning will oversee and optimize processes in the solar manufacturing facility to produce high-quality solar products. This role focuses on enhancing equipment performance, ensuring consistent product quality, and adhering to safety and efficiency standards, contributing to the advancement of solar manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in process engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably in solar or related industries.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in using data acquisition systems and monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of quality control measures and process optimization techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with diamond wire saws and abrasive slurry systems.
  • Familiarity with solar manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Project management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize parameters such as blade speed, feed rate, and coolant flow to maximize throughput, minimize material loss, and improve quality.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, increase yield, and reduce production costs while maintaining product specifications.
  • Manage and maintain product equipment, including diamond wire saws and abrasive slurry systems, ensuring proper operation, calibration, and preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, diagnose mechanical or process-related problems, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain production continuity.
  • Establish and enforce quality control measures to ensure consistency and reliability of the product, including dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and edge quality.
  • Conduct inspections and quality audits, analyzing defects, deviations, and non-conformities to identify root causes and implement corrective measures.
  • Monitor process parameters and performance metrics in real-time, utilizing data acquisition systems and monitoring tools to track slicing efficiency, yield, and quality indicators.
  • Analyze process data, trends, and variability to identify opportunities for process optimization, yield improvement, and defect reduction, implementing data-driven solutions to enhance process robustness.
  • Lead technology transfer activities for new processes or equipment, collaborating with R&D teams to validate process scalability, optimize parameters, and ensure successful integration into production.
