About the position

The Soft Goods CAD Designer will play a crucial role in transitioning from traditional manual processes to a digital workflow for designing and manufacturing aircraft seating and other interior components. This position involves utilizing advanced CAD software and CNC equipment to create innovative designs and patterns, ensuring that products meet customer specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design new digital workflow to transition from analog to digital processes.
  • Capture existing aircraft seating designs through measurement or 3D scanning.
  • Modify seat design to meet customer requirements.
  • Utilize Exact Flat or mpanel to output patterns to digital cutting and sewing devices.
  • Design and develop aircraft interior products.
  • Program and utilize CNC equipment such as milling machines to create products.
  • Design decorative stitch patterns.
  • Provide engineering support to production and quality departments.
  • Propose suggestions for product improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years' experience in Design Engineering discipline.
  • 3 years of experience with SolidWorks.
  • Experience with sewing, upholstery, or furniture production.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with digital pattern making and rapid prototyping techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Exact Flat (1 year preferred).
  • Experience in furniture, sewing, or upholstery.
