As a Software Application Engineer, you will contribute to defining, testing, and deploying Caterpillar's critical feature protection system (FPS) application. The FPS application is an important component of Caterpillar's aftermarket strategy, providing a cyber secure means to deploy Caterpillar's premium software features. You will assist in determining priorities, monitoring development progress, and reporting project status.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze requirements to create and document application software requirement specifications.
  • Collaborate with global software development team to convey application requirements and issues.
  • Test and assist debugging application software using different tools and methods to improve code quality and optimize system performance.
  • Assist with global teams to provide post-production users' support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, or information systems.
  • Software development process experience.
  • Working knowledge of software architecture and Java or similar programming languages.
  • Applies current procedures and technologies to help resolve technical issues in one's general area of technical competence.
  • Helps others solve technical or procedural problems or issues.
