About the position

As an IBM zTools team member, you will use the latest tools and technologies available to deliver state-of-the-art software solutions for the zTools migration program. You will be responsible for ensuring that software components are expertly designed, tested, debugged, verified, and ready for integration into IBM's zTools software suite, helping organizations improve their business outcomes in the global marketplace. This role executes the tasks required to develop or test the zTools product portfolio to ensure it functions according to specifications and client requirements and meets the business needs. Development and testing activities cover all aspects of the product/system including function/component, system, performance and regression. Successful candidates will have a strong desire to work through all phases of the software development lifecycle. A foundational understanding of software development principles and testing methodologies such as the Agile Software Development Lifecycle, with a high degree of adaptability, drive, and willingness to accept new challenges is a must.

Responsibilities

• Deliver state-of-the-art software solutions for the zTools migration program.
• Ensure software components are designed, tested, debugged, verified, and ready for integration.
• Develop or test the zTools product portfolio to meet specifications and client requirements.
• Cover all aspects of the product/system including function/component, system, performance, and regression.

Requirements

• 5-9 years of experience in Installation, configuration, and maintenance of z/OS systems and applications.
• Basic knowledge of TCP/IP protocols (VTAM, TCP/IP, SNA, FTP, SSH).
• Good knowledge of Scripting (REXX/Any Scripting language), CLIST, JCL Batch to automate and streamline administrative tasks.
• Hands-on experience of working on Hardware Management Console (HMC) and Support Element (SE).
• Expertise in diagnosing and resolving system issues, system dumps, and abends.
• Experience in Configuration and management of RACF/ACF2.
• Deep understanding of z/OS architecture.

Nice-to-haves

• Working Knowledge of CA OPS/MVS.
• Proficiency in Java.
• Experience in Netview.
• Experience in PL X/I.
• Experience working on modernizing mainframe tools, including transitioning them to more modern Java-based solutions.
• Experience in Assembler Coding.
• Some familiarity with Watsonx.ai and AI-driven automation for security analysis and automation (or willingness to learn).
• Knowledge of API integration with Mainframe, especially for connecting mainframe security with cloud/hybrid environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for resolving and debugging workflow issues and improving tool performance.
