About The Position

The Software Developer at Idaho National Laboratory will work within the IT Project Management Office, focusing on developing engineering solutions using both current and new computing technologies. This fully remote position operates on a 9x80 schedule, allowing for every other Friday off, and reports to the senior manager. The role involves applying software engineering principles to complex problems, supporting project plans, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality assurance requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, computer information systems, information technology, business administration or related field and 9 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 6 years of relevant experience, or 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience mentoring others and leading technical tasks.
  • Experience using Jira or similar tool.
  • Experience with development, configurations, and administration of PPM and RM modules within ServiceNow platform.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and NET WebAPI interfaces.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL data queries and subsequent visualizations.
  • Experience with Oracle PLSQL.
  • Experience with Agile, Kanban development methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Apply software engineering principles to processes and information display and visualization.
  • Plan, develop and implement software-engineering solutions to complex problems and major projects within the PPM and resource planning module in ServiceNow.
  • Support project plans and requirements, establishing scope, cost, and schedule estimates for design.
  • Participate in technical reviews for projects at various phases of development and provide recommendations for computer technology solutions.
  • Maintain and upgrade a variety of systems, and develop new software capabilities.
  • Work closely with architects, process analysts, and ServiceNow developers on optimum configurations within modules.
  • Ensure compliance with INL's safety, security, environmental, health and quality assurance requirements.
  • Document activities, reports, and existing technologies artifacts to create reports and present assessments of code quality and recommendations for improvements.
  • Contribute to professional development to maintain technical proficiency in current and new technologies.
  • Use expertise to define strategic direction in assigned areas.
  • Review training plans and help lead the team forward.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
