About The Position

Leidos Maritime System Solutions is seeking a Software / Embedded Systems Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team at the Naval Information Warfare Center, Pacific. This role involves the development, testing, and evaluation of electro-mechanical devices for uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs) and other maritime applications. The engineer will collaborate closely with a government-industry team throughout all project phases, focusing on software development and embedded systems integration.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in software and embedded systems development.
• Experience working in teams to deliver products and evaluate performance.
• Strong analytical skills for experiment data analysis.
• Excellent technical writing skills for reports and briefings.
• U.S. Citizenship and a current Secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 2 years of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with embedded systems and electronic hardware implementation.
• Fluency in C/C++ programming language.
• Experience with Digital Signal Processing and Field-Programmable Gate Arrays.
• Knowledge of microcontrollers and real-time programming.
• Experience in robotics applications and control theory.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs) to meet system performance requirements.
• Develop user interfaces and control systems for UUV components and sensors.
• Optimize UUV behaviors for task completion and payload integration.
• Refine existing code in C/C++, Java, MatLab, and Python.
• Create engineering documentation for task deliveries.
• Sustain and upgrade system control and data recording capabilities.
• Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements in system components.
• Conduct testing onboard small boats and ships, including launching and recovering systems at-sea.
