About The Position

Leidos is seeking a Software Engineer with strong Data Science skills to analyze unstructured and semi-structured data. The role involves applying advanced analysis algorithms on high-performance infrastructures and requires creativity in handling large-scale data analysis. The position is based in Reston, with some local travel to DIAHQ and the Pentagon, and offers a flexible schedule but no telework options.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong technical skills in engineering, physics, and mathematics.
• Proficiency in Python scripting, Pandas, and Excel.
• Experience with software development in Java/Linux/Ruby/Python or .NET/C#/C++.
• Familiarity with data transport and transformation APIs (JSON, XML, JDBC, SOAP, REST).
• Experience with cloud-based data analysis tools (Hadoop, Mahout, Hive, etc.).
• Knowledge of visual analytic tools (Microsoft Pivot, Palantir).
• Experience with open source textual processing (Lucene, Sphinx, Solr).
• Understanding of machine learning, algorithm analysis, and data clustering.

Nice To Haves

• Security+ or other IAT II/III level certification (active or to be obtained).
• Experience with SAFEHOUSE.

Responsibilities

• Analyze unstructured and semi-structured data using advanced algorithms.
• Apply latent semantic indexing (LSI), entity identification, and complex event processing (CEP).
• Handle processing and index requests against high-volume data collections.
• Utilize advanced tools to interpret and make discoveries in complex data.
• Develop and deploy applications using unstructured data analysis techniques.
• Interact with functional customers and end users daily.
• Prepare weekly quad charts to report status.
