About the position

If you're a talented and motivated entry level Software Developer seeking to grow and take your skills to the next level, Iridium has a position on our innovative Ground Development team for you! As a Software Engineer you'll have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in software development and maintenance for critical areas such as Iridium's Ground Control and Satellite Data Products packaging applications. In this role, you'll be responsible for collaboratively completing tasks that provide significant value to the team, supporting all areas of software development within the Satellite Operations and Engineering Development teams. Responsibilities

  • Respond to agile Sprint and Kanban boards
  • Follow existing Iridium processes for Change Control, Prioritization, Risk Management, COTS Management, Build and Test software deployments and use knowledge to assist in development of process/procedure documentation materials
  • Work with team members to develop optimized code for both scalability and performance
  • Work within the Agile/Scrum framework for SW development
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of Software build environments and ongoing code base
  • Work within team objectives to help plan and execute software releases per stakeholder/program schedules and budgets
  • Update issues/features/bug data in Project/Software tracking tools
  • Respond to questions (within scope) from stakeholders
  • Edit, structure, and present data, concepts and arguments clearly and succinctly, through briefings and documentation

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, or related engineering discipline
  • 0 - 2 years' software programming experience
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate key messages and ideas clearly and effectively
  • Can cultivate meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team, while being open and responsive to constructive feedback as they guide and mentor you
  • The ability to think outside the box to help solve problems, with the humility to ask for help when needed
  • Adaptability to a dynamic environment and the readiness to take on any new tasks that are handed to you
  • A motivation to achieve outcomes and results
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks at once and completing them on time with mostly no errors
  • An eagerness to develop professionally, continuously learn, and share knowledge with others
