About The Position

Travelers is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our organization as we grow and transform our Technology landscape. This role involves performing advanced end-to-end engineering tasks, including designing, developing, analyzing, configuring, testing, debugging, and implementing software solutions based on user or system specifications. The individual will also provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced employees, participate in system design and architecture discussions, and ensure successful project delivery through technical leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Two years of programming/development experience.
  • Four years of programming/development experience preferred.
  • Experience with JavaScript, React JS, Java, .NET, Lambda, and unit testing preferred.
  • 2 or more years of leadership experience preferred.

  • Experience with customer-facing websites for large corporations.
  • Strong background in creating comprehensive design documentation.
  • Proficient in presenting technical documents to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis, design, development, and configuration functions with high accuracy and speed.
  • Analyze, assess, and resolve defects and incidents of advanced complexity.
  • Work independently on well-scoped and loosely scoped problems.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced employees.
  • Participate in business and functional requirements gathering.
  • Work with stakeholders on system design and architecture.
  • Create technical stories and provide estimates for features/work.
  • Coordinate with Product Owners on backlog prioritization.
  • Ensure technical stories are refined on time to maintain a healthy backlog.
  • Lead code and quality management reviews.
  • Oversee and fix defects or performance problems discovered in testing.
  • Support installation of application releases into production.
  • Coordinate code merge activities and DevOps release activities.
  • Maintain technical design documents as per project lifecycle.
  • Conduct training to upskill team resources.
  • Provide status updates and presentations to stakeholders.
  • Participate in Engineering Chapter initiatives to improve software engineering practices.
