Software Engineer Intern (Infrastructure Automation) - Summer 2025

About the position

Snowflake is seeking dedicated students for paid, full-time internships in the heart of the software industry. Interns will have the opportunity to work with world-class experts on challenging projects and provide meaningful contributions to real systems used by customers. The internship will last between 12 to 16 weeks, with the possibility of extending up to 12 months. Interns will be treated as members of the Snowflake team, included in company meetings and activities, and will receive detailed direction without micromanagement. Responsibilities

• Work on challenging projects with world-class experts
• Provide meaningful contributions to real systems used by customers
• Participate in company meetings and activities
• Receive feedback throughout the internship and a final evaluation
• Build enterprise-grade, reliable, and trustworthy software/services
• Gain exposure to SQL and/or other database technologies
• Understand database internals, large-scale data processing, and data warehouse design
• Deliver quality software in a large distributed system with emphasis on functional and performance automation, workloads and testing
• Build automation frameworks and infrastructure to improve development workflow efficiency
• Work with cloud infrastructure, AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.

Requirements

• Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college/university program during the time of the internship
• Desired class level: 3rd/4th year Undergraduates, Masters, or PhD
• Desired majors: Computer Science, Physics, Math, or related field
• Required Coursework: Algorithms, Data Structures, Operating Systems
• Excellent programming skills in Python or Java
• Knowledge of data structures and algorithms
• Strong problem solving and ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment
• Experience with working as a part of a team
• Dedication and passion for technology

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with DevOps (Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform)
• Experience with Containerization (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Recommended Coursework: database systems, distributed systems
