About The Position

The software engineer will play a crucial role in developing software for quantum information technologies at HRL. This position involves creating software that automates and characterizes quantum devices, contributing to advancements in the field and supporting scientists and engineers in their research and development efforts.

Requirements

• 10+ years relevant software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with leading open source Python packages such as Pandas, NumPy, Plotly, etc.
• Experience with one or more relational database systems.
• Experience with software engineering practices such as version control and continuous integration.
• Solid understanding of core computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and computer architectures.
• Experience working with physical hardware.
• Experience with a scientific discipline.

Responsibilities

• Develop software for the autonomous execution of complex sequences of experiments, measurements, and calibrations.
• Develop software for characterization and benchmarking of quantum devices.
• Build rich visualizations to exhibit device characteristics and performance.
• Work closely with experimental physicists to ensure software enables required laboratory capabilities.
• Work closely with data engineers to define how to organize and store quantum device data.

Benefits

• Base salary range of $182,720 - $234,168 + bonus + benefits.
