About the position

You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Perform senior-level automated systems development work in support of Application Solutions software systems.
  • Provide 24/7 technical support work activities including being available outside core business hours to troubleshoot, deploy, patch, assist with software version upgrades.
  • Oversee software development activities during all phases of the system development lifecycle (SDLC): design, code, test, implement, and maintain.
  • Provide prompt and accurate feedback when issues arise.
  • Document and track requests for support, solutions and share knowledge base.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple support requests at one time and follow up to ensure systems are fully functional after troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with Schedules Releases teams and provide backup support.
  • May serve as backup to the manager and other team members.
  • Actively participate in maintaining and providing input to the departmental dashboard.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and agency laws, rules, policies, and procedures including IT Handbook and SOPs that govern TWC IT.
  • Contribute to teamwork and communicate effectively.
  • Promote an image of IT excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems or related field and two years of experience as a developer or six years of experience as a developer.
  • PowerBuilder experience in version 11 or higher up to 21.
  • DB2 experience.
  • Neon Shadow Direct for DB2.
  • Visual Studio 2019 for building applications.
  • CVS/GIT.
  • FileNet.
  • Java EE, JSP, Spring Framework, Unit testing tools and frameworks (Junit, Selenium, etc.).
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Demonstrated skills using software/systems development methodologies such as waterfall, iterative, and/or agile sprints.
  • Ability to analyze problems, develop solutions, communicate clearly and effectively with technical colleagues and non-technical customers.
  • Detail-oriented skills and ability to solve complex to advanced computer programming problems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to serve as a technical consultant to peers.
